It’s the cheapest hotel in Havana. Book a room with a balcony so you can get cooler, fresh air if the power goes out. Without one, head to the malecon with a bottle of rum and make the best of it. My first visit was during college, in the special period. It was one of the few places with cheese, and grilled cheese sandwiches cost 25¢. That trip, I set my toothbrush on the sink after unpacking and the sink fell and broke. They tried to charge me $300usd. 🤣 No way. For most of a Havana trip, I’d stay here, then splurge for a few nights at more historic, iconic hotels. Santiago is worth the inter-country plane fare. Stay by the hotel next to the museum, sorry, I can’t remember its name, and buy the local dark rum sold only by the pint. You can see spices collected at the bottom of the bottle. I promise it’ll be the best rum you’ll ever taste. I’ve only found it in Santiago.

The location is hard to beat, just a minute from El Malecon, Palacio De Bellas Artes and Capitolio. Lido was a gem during my vacation. My room was very clean, and the service was impeccable. The staff were always friendly and ready to help with a big smile. I also loved the fresh continental breakfast every morning. I’ll definitely stay here on my next vacation.

We booked one night at hotel Lido because we were arriving very late and thought it would be easier. It wasn’t. There are plenty of nice CPs in the area that would give you better value for money. At Lido, there was a huge cockroach, the bedsheets were kind of dirty, and the room didn’t match the pictures.

It’s a nice hotel in the middle of old Havana, right in a neighborhood. You miss some comforts you might be used to, but it’s better than a hostel. Great location.

The roads around the Lido aren’t in great shape, but the hotel sits in a good spot between Central Havana and Havana Vieja. Staff are very helpful, and breakfast is good.
