We ended our honeymoon with two nights at VIP Morro in Havana, and it was a lovely way to finish the trip. After a week in Cuba, including three nights at the very good Iberostar Grand Hotel Packard and what were meant to be four nights at the “5 star luxury resort” Royalton Hicacos in Varadero, arriving at this small hotel in central Havana felt like a breath of fresh air. The building has that typical old Havana look, and the hotel has just five rooms. Our bed was large and comfortable, the decor was lovely, everything felt new, and the shower was excellent, which had seemed hard to find around Cuba. There’s also a rooftop bar with cheerful evenings and good music. Breakfast is made personally and costs 10.00cuc. We hadn’t said where we’d been or that it was our honeymoon, but from the moment we walked in, we felt at home. Francy was working her very first day and was already wonderful, with a bright future ahead of her. The owner also made us feel that there’s hope for hospitality and hotel management in this amazing city. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for such a pleasant end to a very special trip. We wish you all the best. Highly recommended! Mariana & David, from Portugal.

The hotel itself, its amenities, and the hospitality were excellent. I loved it and hope I can come back soon.

The staff were really kind throughout our stay, offering tips, sorting out breakfast, and always greeting us with a smile. The room was clean, large, airy, and bright. Its location is very handy, between Paseo del Prado, the Malecón, and Museu de la Revolución. Breakfast tasted good, with fruit, eggs, coffee, juice, bread, and cold cuts. Some days it was filling enough that we skipped lunch. The one thing that made my companion and me uncomfortable was the toilet setup: there was no door, just transparent glass separating it from the bathroom and bedroom hallway.
