The protected bay was the main reason we picked this resort, expecting strong winds, and it was the only beach area we could swim in on five of our seven days. The resort is large, so getting around means a long walk or a golf cart ride. It may be difficult for elderly guests or anyone with mobility challenges. The rooms were modern, spacious, and clean, with good water pressure and no water problems. Pools are on the small side and could use better floor cleaning. The buffet was a highlight, with a great selection of seafood including large prawns and fish, as well as lamb, beef, pork, and chicken. Teppanyaki à la carte was excellent; the Mediterranean and Gourmet restaurants were unremarkable. The food was among the best we've had in Cuba. My wife and I recently spent a week at Iberostar Selection Holguin, one of our nicest stays in several years, and it exceeded expectations even though we've been to Cuba many times. Staff worked hard and were attentive whether or not you tipped. Special thanks to bartenders Sergei and Giselle, and Jan at the beach bar. Resort manager Andre was often around, checking on guests and quickly dealing with issues. We feel sad about Cuba's current situation and hope Cuban people get through this difficult time soon. We look forward to returning.

My girlfriend and I spent two weeks at the hotel just before Cuba began closing hotels because of the oil shortage. The stay left a very good impression. The open spaces and quiet surroundings were nice, and what stood out most was how helpful the staff were. Everyone seemed genuinely cheerful, with real smiles. We also liked that the hotel kept improving things. We mentioned wanting something one day, and it was there a few days later. Credit to the management for listening to guests.

Anthony, one of the internal managers, deserves special thanks. He was caring, responsible, and attentive, patiently following up on everything and making a real difference to our stay. The hotel was clean, calm, organized, and well maintained. Staff were polite and professional throughout. Everything about the cleanliness, atmosphere, organization, and staff behavior gets 5/5 from me. The food was the one area that could be better, I'd give it 3/5. It was a very satisfying visit, and I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

We had an amazing stay here as a family. The employees were all friendly and eager to help, and they greeted us with smiles. The food and service were excellent. I think this is a 5-star hotel and would highly recommend it to family and friends. Thank you!

We'd gladly return to Iberostar Selection in Holguín after a wonderful stay. The property felt quite new, and it was spacious, modern, very clean, and well maintained. Our room was bright, large, and spotless. Staff were friendly, attentive, and ready to help, with excellent service throughout. The buffet was especially well organized and quick. Although food variety in Cuba isn't as broad as in the Dominican Republic or Mexico, it was always well stocked. There were several kinds of cold cuts and ham, cheese, fruit, pastries, and meats including pork, beef, and chicken, along with shrimp and even lobster. When lines grew, staff quickly added more people to keep things moving. I wasn't sure what the walk over a bridge to the beach would be like because I couldn't find clear reviews. It took about 10 minutes and was easy. The bridge crosses a beautiful bay with stunning blue water and fish swimming below. Shuttle carts can get you there quickly, but I'd recommend the walk. It's a lovely, relaxing stroll.
