We stopped here for one night on our way back to Havana, near the end of our holiday. Casa Nelson felt like a welcome change after the big hotel chains in the CAYAs, a large family home like so many in Cuba. There seem to be around six rooms; we had two, both clean and with en-suite bathrooms. Don’t expect marble interiors. The hosts are warm and friendly, greet you with a smile, and make sure you’re settled and ready for breakfast. In the evening, it’s a quick walk into the city centre for dinner, then you can have a beer on the roof terrace while salsa music carries across the city.
