We brought eight family members for a winter getaway and are halfway through our trip. The staff are very friendly, the food is decent for Cuba, and the beach is beautiful, with a calm, clean ocean and no rocks. The resort is fairly deserted, which has its good and bad sides. With things so quiet, the beach salesman is relentless. Food and drink options are limited, partly because of delivery issues related to the fuel shortage from the Venezuela/Trump issue. It's not terrible, just limited. Local transit had shut down, but is open for now. Picky eaters may struggle with the limited choices. The language barrier is the worst I've seen on our fifth trip to Cuba, with staff struggling to understand English. The rooms are clean but rough. Most of the lights don't work, the beds are very, very firm, and there was no hot water at all. Everything seems to have just one coat of white paint, even the tub and fixtures. The weather is really chilly right now, 20-25 degrees Celsius, so the pool is freezing, though the ocean is nice. After I posted this, the resort managers took me aside and asked how they could make our stay better. We ended up with semi-hot water, and I noticed more maintenance around the resort. The managers seemed genuinely concerned about my review and wanted to do better. Fernando was our best server of the week and made the trip that much better. I would go back again.

I come for the beaches and the hotel staff. They're wonderful and very friendly, and make me feel at home in a way that's hard to find in other countries. The hotel is old, but for what we Canadians pay, I can't ask for more. If you're after luxury and gourmet food, go to the Dominican Republic or Mexico. If you come just to complain, you'd be better off staying home. Enjoy!

The property has a lot of potential, and better direction from management and staff training could make it stand out. Service was efficient, but most interactions felt routine instead of warm or personal. I understand the challenges businesses face; still, making a genuine connection with guests depends more on mindset and guidance than cost. Food and drinks were fine, but they also lacked the care and warmth that make service feel like an experience. My stay wasn't bad, just nothing memorable enough to make me excited to return. I value and reward sincere service, and would be happy to come back if the staff had more support in creating meaningful moments for guests.

The beach is beautiful, with crystal-clear water, and the city is just 10 minutes away by bus if you want to explore its colonial history. I hadn't visited for two years, and the changes surprised me. They're renovating the rooms and buffet restaurant, which seems like a positive shift under the current management. Everyone was super friendly. Osmani and Odalys from customer service helped with any questions we had, and they got our air conditioning problem fixed right away. Breakfast was very good. We especially liked the bread, which they make at the hotel and which tastes homemade. They could maybe offer more fruit and some vegetables at lunch or dinner. Everything was good.

We had a really relaxing week. The Diamond Club girls were great about giving advice on all sorts of things. The beach was lovely and the water warm. There were evening shows, plus salsa and Spanish classes. You can also take excursions outside the resort; it's safe and very cheap.
