The beach and sea were beautiful, with fish in the water and plenty of seagulls and pelicans nearby. We also liked the fresh coconuts during the day, and at the beach bars you could ask to have rum added to the coconut water. The pool bars were excellent and open most of the time, and the new outdoor bar area had comfortable seating and quick, friendly service. Staff across the resort were welcoming, and the food selection and quality were good. Some things did disappoint us. One pool bar was closed for renovations, and we weren’t told during booking or when we arrived. Part of the pool area was unavailable too, so the beach got crowded and it could be hard to find enough sunbeds. The hotel and much of the resort look old. Our bungalow was clean and comfortable enough, but felt dated. The main restaurant could be very noisy and overcrowded at peak times. Still, we had a relaxing, enjoyable holiday at Sol Palmeras, around 4/5 stars.

It’s my 3rd visit, and the people keep bringing me back. Each year the buffet servers recognize us and set aside tables, with such genuine greetings. The beach is amazing, and the new outdoor bar is fantastic. They’ve also put a small bar on one of the walkways to the beach, so it’s easy to pick up a drink on the way.

My wife and I came to sol Palmeras for our anniversary and had an amazing time. It’s a big resort with lots of guests, but the beach is beautiful, the food very good, and the people are wonderful. Dayagne was especially kind and professional with guests, and her customer service was great. We’d love to come back and would recommend it 100%.

This was our second visit to Melia Sol Palmeras this year, and we’re already planning the next one. The staff in the buffet and al la carts are so welcoming they feel like family. There’s plenty to eat, with lots of choice for kids too, from pizza and fries to different kinds of seafood. We eat more there than at home. The drinks and bar staff are great, and the new bar area looks stunning, whether you want an after dinner drink or somewhere to relax after swimming. The beach is long and deep with lots of room and chairs. Pools are great too, and even during March Break we could find a lounger. There’s plenty to do, and the entertainment is good. If you dance the night away in the disco, you’re bound to meet new friends. The hotel itself is modern and clean, and staff are always cleaning and making sure you’re having a good time.

The staff were the real highlight. Between buffet times my daughter wanted scrambled eggs with corn, so we contacted guest services and they made her a fresh special order within 5 minutes. That kind of care meant a lot. Everyone was kind and attentive, and seemed focused on making sure guests had what they needed. The rooms were very clean and the resort was well maintained. Food was excellent and plentiful, with fish, salads, meat, chicken, lots of fruit, and delicious Napolitan-style pizza. We especially liked the beach grill, with charcoal grilled wings, paella, and sausages. People often worry about food and mosquitos in Cuba, but we had no issues. This resort in Cuba exceeded our expectations, with a beautiful setting and wonderful service. We’d absolutely return and recommend it to anyone considering Cuba. Seriously.
