It was our second year at Hotel Villa La Mar, and the warm welcome was just as lovely as last year. Since it merged with Hotel Mar Del Sur, it now has a lot more to offer. There are two buffet restaurants for everyday meals, two a la carte restaurants for a more intimate dinner, two pool bars and two 24-hour lobby bars. Two beach bar/snack-bars and two pool and snack bars are open until 5:00 pm daily, while the pool bars run from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm alongside the evening entertainment. The nightly shows were very high quality, with a different one every evening. It was a short walk to the beach, and we got to know a lot of neighbors along the way. We loved the place, found it extremely economical, and can’t wait to return.

I was told this hotel is under military control. Don't book a room through any agency, because you could get scammed.

The place was dirty and the whole stay felt disrespectful. Our room was musty, there was no hot water, the pool wasn't clean, and the food was terrible. Service was awful across the board. Everything they served was either expired or due to expire within 10 days. They only cleaned every three days and didn't replace the towels. Instead of enjoying our trip, we wound up with terrible indigestion. I'm giving it one star only because the site requires one to post. It doesn't deserve any stars.
