Hotel Roterdão

The photos give a misleading impression. The first one has nothing to do with the hotel, and I don't think this place deserves three stars. The rooms were clean, but need a complete renovation: door frames were broken and the shower's sliding doors were dirty. The staff were doing their best, the bed was fine, and breakfast was good. There was no peace and quiet for a proper night's sleep. The hotel sits in the middle of a noisy neighborhood. If you like that, it may suit you, but late at night tables and chairs are brought in from the terrace, and noisy guests come back at 2 a.m. A lot would need to change for this accommodation to earn a real star. I left after one night.

The staff were about as friendly and helpful as you could hope for, and the location was handy, around a 10-minute walk to prainha or Quebra Canela. Breakfast was good too. The room was simple, clean, spacious, and had air conditioning. The bathroom was clean, but it should have basic toiletries for people staying just a few days without checked luggage. I was left without hygiene products because mine had been confiscated at Lisbon airport.

The service was excellent and the location is good. The rooms are simple, but by Praia standards the place is quite good overall.

A peaceful stay for a couple, and one I'd recommend. The staff were attentive and friendly, the rooms were all clean, and the cuisine was excellent with plenty of different dishes to choose from.
