Hotel Oásis Atlântico Praiamar

We had a beautiful room facing the sea, and there are two beaches right beside the hotel. The pool is great for a swim, while breakfast is abundant and excellent. You can eat with a view of either the pool or sea. The staff are lovely, and the location is handy for Praia and sightseeing. It’s a peaceful, relaxed place to stay on the island.

The hotel’s condition and service were far below what we expected. Although we spoke directly with the manager about the problems, the response was dismissive and no solution was offered. Staff were consistently rude and unhelpful from arrival, including at the pool and in the general areas. Loud maintenance work also interrupted our sleep. We were moved after a leak in our first room, but the replacement did not make things right. The hotel looks nothing like the online pictures and is outdated and poorly maintained. Bathrooms had yellow stains on the toilets, broken flushes, and a strong urine smell. We reported the problems to reception, but they weren’t properly dealt with. Hygiene was a serious concern: there were mouse droppings in the breakfast area and cockroaches as well. The advertised gym was nonfunctional. Around the property, pool loungers were broken and there was no ice available. For a hotel serving food, the cleanliness was unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here.

The employees were very nice, but the rest of the stay was frustrating. Dinner took an unacceptable hour and 30 minutes to arrive, and the food was cold. A bottle of wine we ordered for the room never came. The pool loungers had bent bars that made them painful to sit or lie on. Our first room had a broken window. We were moved, but in the second room overgrown plants completely blocked the sea view. The safe there was out of order, and nobody responded to our request to repair it. Maintenance, upkeep, and service all fell short. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The rooms vary, but the updated ones with sea views are great. The Panorama restaurant does good fish, and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Wi-Fi was strong, too. It’s an okay hotel.
