Oásis Tarrafal Alfândega Suites

The beach location on Terrafal is the best, and the rooms all face the water with plenty to watch. They're very spacious, with living rooms and comfy beds. Breakfast was lovely, with local food, and the staff were professional, warm, and kind. There are local women selling BBQ chicken on sticks, really good street food. It's good value, though it books up quickly. We had the best vacation ever.

Right beside the beach, the hotel has a beautiful view. The food was pretty good too, and the staff were kind and quick.

The rooms are spacious, modern, and well equipped with pots and cutlery, though it's funny there's no oven stove in the room. The restaurant food is outstanding, delicious, and beautifully presented in a fancy, modern style. Staff are very friendly, but very, very slow, perhaps embracing Africa's "no stress" attitude. Beer only comes in 0.2 glasses, and once yours is empty, you have to hope someone comes by. Then a new one takes only 10 minutes. English wasn't good enough for staff to understand the full order, so breakfast without a buffet becomes a surprise. The hotel manager was friendly and helpful after TAP air Portugal messed up delivery of our baggage. That was outstanding service and kindness. There is a large main beach next to the hotel and a smaller one with good snorkeling nearby. You should like dogs, as stray dogs are everywhere around, though mostly friendly.

The location and views are fantastic, the WiFi is superb, and the food was good. All the physical facilities are excellent: modern, clean, and comfortable. Some shade on the panoramic terrace would make it much nicer. Management and staff could have been far better. They weren't unfriendly, but seemed uninspired and not very interested in guests, busy with themselves instead of being hospitable. The manager was smoking outside beside the main entrance. Excellent facilities, badly managed.
