Aldeia Jerome

The village makes hiking convenient, and getting to Ribeira Grande by shared taxi, or Colectivo, is easy and cheap. We also rented a car for a day to drive around the island to Tarrafal do Monte Trigo, and it was well worth it. We spent all four nights of our Santo Antão trip here and loved our stay. The staff were friendly and capable, the room was great, and we really enjoyed the very good breakfast.

The internet worked, and I really liked the breakfast and the lovely staff. I was on the ground floor, though, so my outlook was just the stairs where people walked, with no view. The bed was noisy and uncomfortable.

I won’t return. The owner was arrogant and rude, and when something was wrong with my room door, he had the whole day to fix it but didn’t. The shower and shower mat were disgusting and dirty. He didn’t even apologize.

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and there’s a shady garden. It’s right in the middle of Villa das Pombas, close to the hiking routes and those fairytale landscapes. The owner speaks English too.
