The setting and views are the real highlight, and waking up to that scenery is unforgettable. The daily local meals were delicious and healthy, with plenty of good food. The rooms may not feel like what you’d expect from a high-standard hotel, as you’ll see when you arrive, but the scenery and the food’s quality and quantity more than made up for that. Staff were kind and supportive throughout. One thing to keep in mind: check how hard a hike is before setting out. We chose a “High” route to the crater and regretted it a little 😅.

Casa Cavoquinho makes a great base for the nearby hiking routes. It sits on a hillside above the valley, with a fantastic view, and the rooms were clean and practical. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was great.

The staff were really nice, and the food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious. There are gorgeous mountain views from the rooms and shared spaces. You can get here by alugers, and several trails are within walking distance.

The staff made a big difference for my family and me. They were warm and attentive, and kept us up to date on good trails and things to do. We also really enjoyed the food, made with very fresh local ingredients. Casa Cavoquinho sits in the beautiful landscape of Paúl, Santo Antão, with wonderful views and a quiet atmosphere that feels closely tied to the surroundings. It made for a relaxing, authentic Cape Verde stay.
