Lilu Apartments Curacao

We spent 10 days at Lilu Apartments, and the stay got off to a terrible start. After a flight of more than 10 hours, we arrived in our rental car to find the gates locked, with no doorbell and no reply to our Booking.com messages. We were afraid we might have to spend our first night on an unfamiliar island in the car. We finally shouted until other guests heard us and let us in. No one was in the office to check us in. We had been forgotten. The other guests called the manager, who arrived about 15 minutes later and was friendly and apologized for the misunderstanding. The apartment was dirty when we checked in. There was someone else’s hair on the floor and in the closets, the bathroom socket was slightly broken, the oven hood was dirty, and there was no toothbrush holder or hand and face towels. I raised these issues the next day. The manager apologized and tried to help, and the cleaners came back, but they only wet-mopped without vacuuming and spread the dirt around. I also left my laundry out of the closet, so I lived from my suitcase for all 10 days. A few days in, we saw cockroaches on the house wall. Neighbors in other apartments said they had cockroaches inside, too. The house rules sent via Booking.com the day before check-in were also wrong, since laundry is free. The staff did try to help, but being forgotten at check-in and getting a dirty apartment were unacceptable.

Ivan is a great host and will help you with anything. We saw the whole island, and honestly, I’d rather stay at Lilu and take trips from there than be in an over-organized hotel on the beach. You can always book a restaurant at the beach 😊.
