Sidney’s thoughtfulness really stood out. He picked us up from the airport, showed us around Otrabanda and the local area, and shared helpful suggestions for places to go. When we ran into a serious problem with our car rental on our first day, he came with us to the rental office and spoke directly with the manager to help sort it out. Our morning conversations helped shape each day, and he was available on WhatsApp whenever questions came up. It was my birthday during the stay, and after my partner mentioned it while discussing a dinner reservation, Sidney bought lovely cakes for all the guests. He was an attentive, caring host throughout. We spent four nights at Turqouise B&B during a two-week holiday in Curaçao. It was a great base for Otrabanda, Punda and Pietermaii, with Emma Bridge about a 15-minute walk away and bars and restaurants nearby. We stayed in a clean ground-floor standard room with a separate toilet and shower, a comfortable bed, plenty of towels, air conditioning, a safe, fridge, beach bag, mosquito spray and toiletries. The safe neighborhood felt even more reassuring with the intruder alarm set both when we were inside and when we went out. Guests share the lounge and kitchen, where good quality tea, coffee and biscuits are complimentary. We had breakfast outdoors each morning in the colorful, welcoming rear courtyard, whose walls echo the pattern of Otrabanda’s colorful steps. The host made the outdoor wooden furniture himself. We also met a lovely young couple from Argentina. The decor has personal touches that made the place feel homely, and the B&B had what we needed. Sidney brought breakfast each morning, with boiled eggs, yogurt, cold meats and cheeses, fruit, pastries, jams and juices. He catered to dietary needs and preferences, then chatted with guests and helped them plan the day. We’d highly recommend staying here for its location, facilities and wonderful host.
