Eleni, the manager, made our special occasion stay feel truly special. She and Dimitris always greeted us with a smile when we passed, and the front desk staff were helpful. The gardens were wonderful, with plenty of sunbeds by the pool and on the grass. Walking around the grounds felt like being in a peaceful oasis. We stayed at the Olympic Lagoon Resort Hotel in November, outside Agia(Ayia) Napa. Landa beach is nearby, and Nissi beach is about 15 minutes away. Both beaches are tranquil and shallow for swimming. The hotel has four themed restaurants, each with its own feel, a bit like going out to a restaurant. The main restaurant was okay, though the food wasn't always hot. Breakfast was good. Our room had a high ceiling and was nicely decorated, but the bathroom tiling looked dated and could use replacing. To get to Ayia Napa town, you can catch a bus just outside the back of the hotel for 2 euro each way, or walk for about 25 minutes. The only downside for us was the evening entertainment. Maybe because it was out of season, there were singers every night, and some were a bit awful. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay. We'd definitely return and recommend it to friends.

The kids loved the games room, mocktails and ice cream, and we appreciated having allocated sun loungers so we could relax knowing we'd have somewhere to lie down. The themed buffet changed each night, with a great choice, and the food and cocktails were amazing. The staff were exceptional. Food and drink were definitely five-star quality. The beach is a great little spot with good changing and shower facilities, about a five-minute walk away. There's a bus stop right outside, and we had a great trip to Protaras. Our standard rooms were fine but nothing special, and the hallways, walls and carpets felt rundown and could use new carpets and paint. The entertainment was okay, though I've had better. That's the only reason I'm giving four stars.

The hotel itself was lovely, and our cleaner was awesome. The room was great for the first few days, cleaned perfectly at the same time every day, and we didn't hear anything. Then new guests moved into nearby rooms. Doors slammed, kids ran up and down the corridors and kept knocking on doors. The noise was awful. One guest had to ask the adults to quiet down because her wee boy was asleep. We were also soaked by a water gun while sunbathing, which wasn't ideal. We don't have a problem with children, but we'd booked because the hotel advertised an adults-only pool. Apparently it had one until this year, when it was changed. A returning guest we spoke with at the pool didn't like that change either. We hardly ate at the main buffet because the food was poor quality and served cold. The front of house there badly needs a revamp. More than just us noticed the staff seemed like they couldn't be bothered, and a face as long as a sauce bottle doesn't make anyone feel welcome. The Rock N Roll Diner was our saving grace. Petra, Roshan and Andre (chef) treated us amazingly and went above and beyond. They were the nicest people we've come across on any holiday and the highlight of our trip. Andrea at the buffet restaurant also deserves credit for looking after us every morning at breakfast. Anyone going to Olympic Lagoon should give the Rock N Roll Diner a go. The staff there are top notch and always smiling. They're the people we'll remember most from our holiday. We'd expected a bit more after reading the reviews.

The resort was spotless, but our garden room felt dated and needs modernising. It looked onto the children's pool area, and depending on where your room is, direct sunshine can be limited. We were hoping for an adults-only hotel. There are adult-only areas, but this is very much a family resort. Evening entertainment is added after the children's show in the arena, and kids often stay, so adults arriving later for the adult-themed part may not find a seat. The staff were amazing and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. Andrea was especially attentive and informative at breakfast. There are six themed à la carte restaurants besides the main buffet, and you can visit each once during your stay. Unfortunately, even on arrival day we couldn't book a table except at The Greats. It wasn't good, which may be why it was still available. We were told people book these restaurants when they book their holiday. Jet2 Holidays hadn't pointed that out, but it would be fairer if the resort only accepted bookings once guests arrive. For families, this is an amazing place. If you're after an adults-only experience, I'd consider somewhere else.

We've been to Olympic Lagoon Resort four times now, and each visit feels like coming home. The kids have such a great time with the activities that they keep asking to come back, and it's lovely to see. The resort is beautiful and well kept, with lush gardens and stunning beaches nearby. The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the staff are so kind and always smiling. We're already looking forward to going again.
