Pavlo Napa Beach Hotel

We were there in the second half of October, and the pool water felt a bit cold. That was the only downside for us. The hotel suited our family well, with direct beach access, a sea view from the window, and a large covered playground for the children. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and well equipped, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

The place felt neglected and poorly managed, and it definitely wasn’t worth the money. The reception looked dark and depressing, like it hadn’t been updated since the 1980s. The receptionist, Tatiana, was rude and unfriendly, as if guests were a nuisance. Our towels were dirty, and the sheets weren’t changed during our stay. Breakfast was the same dull food each day. At night, we couldn’t even buy a bottle of water there. Staff just sent us to the nearest supermarket. The beach was dirty with rubbish, and most of the sunbeds were broken. There was one iron for the whole hotel, stored in the basement, and it was filthy and damaged. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you want a relaxing holiday. There are much better options nearby.

The gym was really well equipped, and dinner was good with some variety. But I paid €150 per night for half-board at the end of October and was given one of the worst rooms in the hotel. There are five or six unrenovated rooms, and a booking that just says "standard room" gets you one of them. Since the booking slip doesn’t specify a renovated room, they insist that’s what you booked, leaving you little recourse. After I pushed back, they first said the hotel was full and no alternative existed. Then another equally mediocre room somehow became available. If you seem easy to push around, they’ll hand you a substandard room under the "standard room" label. The hotel makes no effort to satisfy guests, so I can’t recommend it. The pool was so cold it was unusable. Dinner service only lasts two hours, and if you arrive after the first hour, the meal is cold, dry, and tasteless. The waffles were mediocre compared with those at our previous hotel, The Amethyst Napa. There are plenty of hotels in the same price range with much better service, and we regret choosing this one. We stayed at the Chrysomare last year, and the quality difference makes the Pavlo feel like a 2* hotel.

The staff made a bad impression. They were unfriendly and unhelpful, and seemed uninterested in making guests welcome. Even simple questions or requests felt like a bother. The hotel also seemed far below four-star standards: worn furniture that looked decades old, dirty carpets, dusty corners, and a bathroom that clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time. I can’t understand how it has four stars. I wouldn’t recommend it unless there are serious renovations and changes in management. It wasn’t worth the money.
