Sunrise Beach Suite B7

Sunrise Beach Club (Hera B6@) was a nightmare. I’d stay far away. I spent two weeks in Northern Cyprus, with a good week at Caesar Resort followed by a prepaid week here that cost over $800. Before I arrived, people living in the building warned me the apartment was in awful shape and that earlier guests had been unhappy. I’d asked the host for a refund a few days beforehand because of personal circumstances, but he refused, citing “Booking policy.” The money was already gone, so we went ahead and checked in. The place smelled strongly of bird droppings. When we opened the patio door, there were nests with chicks on the windowsills, birds all over the balcony rails, and droppings across the area that looked as if they hadn’t been cleared in months. The smell was unbearable. Inside, the table was laid for three, though our booking was for five, and there weren’t extra dishes. The other kitchen items were jumbled into a filthy container with cleaning products. The curtains were torn, the sheets looked dirty and wrinkled, and cupboards were packed with plastic bags, rags, and rubbish. We found just two decent towels for five people, the bed linen didn’t look washed, and the WiFi barely worked. The host told me he was “flying from Ireland tomorrow to clean it himself since there is no cleaner.” Nobody showed up. We spent another night practically sleeping on sunbeds, then left early because the apartment was unlivable. There was no refund. It felt more like a rubbish dump or a shelter for homeless people than a holiday rental. The host took the money upfront and then disappeared. Booking.com support sided with the owner and wouldn’t refund me, although the property was clearly uninhabitable. If you want awful surprises, go ahead; if you care about your money, health, and peace of mind, stay well away. Shame on the owner and Booking.com for letting this scam continue.
