Novel Centre Point Hotel

We ate breakfast and dinner, and the food was excellent with lots of choice. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We were on the eighth floor and had a great balcony view. The location is brilliant, right in the centre. There was a kitchen area, but it was empty, with no kettle. The main issue was the lifts. There are three, but each is small, with room for two people and their luggage at most. On our coach trip, that meant there was always a queue.

The staff were amazing, and the food was pretty good. We had a good weekend, and the rooms were big and clean. I rated the rooms three because the TV was old and not smart, and the AC never made the temperature comfortable. It wasn’t cold, but it wasn’t comfortably warm either.

My main reason for visiting was Salamis and a couple of beaches, but getting around turned out to be a real problem. I was shocked to find virtually no public buses in Famagusta. Ask how to get somewhere and the answer is to take a taxi. If you prefer cheaper transport, that’s a terrible drawback in an otherwise interesting place to visit for the first time. From this hotel, walking to Salamis would take 50 minutes each way. I visited at the end of September and start of October 2025. There were lots of elderly guests and no families with kids. Breakfast was good, but the self-catering room had no connection for the microwave or hob. I had to sneak a kettle I found on another floor’s landing so I could make a hot drink. There was a smell in the shower cubicle because water wasn’t draining away and stayed stagnant. The cleaners tried hard to help, but couldn’t fix it. Reception staff were friendly, though not everyone spoke clear English. The hotel’s glossy online photos also seemed misleading. They looked like CGI, and there was no bedspread, no flowers in the rooms and no sunset views. It was all a bit of a lie, sadly.

The food was excellent, and drinks were reasonably priced, possibly because there are bars right nearby. It’s very central, with plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Our room was a little tired but clean and comfortable, and we weren’t disturbed by noise.
