Homestay with nice view in comfortable area

The location was only so-so, but we had a nice holiday with good food and drinks, relaxation, and sun. Restaurant and evening bar staff were smiling, very service minded, and always ready to help. The food and drinks were good, too.

The room and hotel atmosphere didn’t look like the pictures to me, which seemed enhanced, especially the room photos. There’s a big difference between renovated and unrenovated rooms, and that wasn’t clear when booking. The pool view is preferable to the inland view, which I also couldn’t tell from the booking details. Inland actually means facing a car park or the street, and I found that misleading. My room smelled strongly of bleach and bathroom pipes. When I turned on the tap, the bathroom sink smelled so bad of pipes that brushing my teeth was unpleasant. There was nowhere to hang towels, and the towels were very worn. The cleaning/staff room next to mine was very dirty, with bedding on the floor, and I wouldn’t show that to guests. The sheets had a stain, probably from the red wine provided in the room, and several hairs. The bed hadn’t been made properly and was uncomfortable, so I had to remake it myself. It was also noisy, with sounds from other rooms carrying through. People went out to smoke on their room balconies late at night and very early in the morning. The atmosphere felt low key, with holidaymakers there for sun, the pool, alcohol, and all inclusive. I wouldn’t choose it for work. I also saw people at reception with their room duvets on the sofas. When I asked to change rooms, they told me I’d already had an upgrade, which I hadn’t known about. They didn’t really listen to what I wanted to explain or try to help. I travel often and needed a quiet, better room, but didn’t manage to get one. I’d asked politely, and it felt like the request wasn’t welcome. The breakfast staff were nice, and I don’t blame them. It feels like a management issue, with staff lacking training. There’s not much around the hotel apart from a sports pub. Breakfast has lots of options, but the food quality was low for a place in Cyprus. The room did have slippers, red wine, water, tea, and coffee. I travel often and only review places I really liked or didn’t like. I’m sorry, but I think this hotel needs more care.

Our first evening was overshadowed by a very unpleasant exchange with the hotel’s PR manager. They spoke to us rudely and patronisingly, which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. We politely said we didn’t appreciate the way we were being addressed, but the response was poorly handled, with no apology or understanding. It was disappointing, since the matter could have been dealt with respectfully. Management needs to communicate and handle customer service better, especially when guests are just trying to enjoy their holiday.

We had a nice all-inclusive stay, with good food and excellent desserts. The meals were a treat, and there were good activities by the pool and later in the evening. There’s a kids club, plus a gym, an indoor pool, and an outdoor pool. The staff were friendly, and the hotel has accessibility for people with disabilities. It’s about a 40-minute drive from the airport. The surrounding area wasn’t great for things to do, and there’s no beach access. Our room was cleaned almost every day if we asked, but the cleaning was superficial and not done well. The stairs weren’t clean during our stay.
