The staff ranged from people who seemed to hate their jobs to a couple who were nearly rude. One exception was Michael, I think that was his name, who worked reception on some days. He was a total legend and always went out of his way to help when we asked questions. The owner was there most days and seemed not to care about the condition of the place. The pool was open to the public for a small fee, though I never saw anyone charged. People often walked in with their own drinks. Weekdays weren’t too bad, but on weekends the pool got crowded, making it harder for paying guests to find decent sun loungers. Cleaning happened every day except Sunday, but it was very superficial. The rooms and hotel floors were dirty in the corners, where a quick mop didn’t reach. Sweet and chocolate wrappers sat in a stairwell corner for six days before anyone picked them up. The lamp was dusty and missing the top pin on its three-pin plug. Dust had also built up on the kitchen extractor hood and picture frames. The hotel seemed to get quick cleans, never a proper deep clean. Sheets were changed about four times over our 14 days, towels about five times, and toilet rolls were supplied regularly, so no complaint there. The room’s air conditioning and furniture looked straight out of the early 80s. The air con was so loud it made sleep difficult. There was a radio built into a bedside cabinet that didn’t work, perhaps because bare wires were hanging from the back. On day nine, our frying pan disappeared. When we asked, a cleaner went into another guest’s room, took their pan and gave it to us. They also used any plastic shopping bags left in our room to line the bins. The pool area looked clean on the hotel’s side, but the other side had rubbish left for days and weeds growing through the tile grout. We watched cleaners walk past and ignore it each morning while we ate breakfast on our balcony. The maintenance man brushed about 12 feet in each direction by the changing rooms each morning, but never went around the whole pool. The sunbeds and cushions weren’t cleaned during our two weeks. The area was very dirty, and the white railings by the stairs looked as if they’d never been cleaned. There was a wall beside the football table with the top one or two layers of blocks just sitting in place, without any cement. The pool table cost one euro to play, but two balls were missing. Gardening tools were left in the garden behind a flower bed, where young children could run into them, and a dead rat lay at the back of the garden for days. The garden has great potential, but it’s a complete mess.

The place was filthy, and everyone else I spoke with said they hated staying here and wouldn’t come back. It felt more like a one-star hostel than a hotel. Save yourself the trouble and avoid it. Seriously, were all those four- and five-star reviews written by people who were high or close friends of the owners?

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. It was dirty, the breakfast was abysmal, and only one staff member seemed friendly and helpful. I’ve written to Jet2holidays to complain that they failed to inspect the place before sending unsuspecting guests here. This hotel is a poor example of what the beautiful island has to offer and should be shut down.

Service seems to be missing from this “hotel.” The food was really dull and generally poorly cooked. I can’t think of a single positive thing to say. Save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere else.

We came when it was quiet and the people there treated us fantastically. It was a great place and a great holiday, thanks everyone!
