British Hotel Girne

We stayed here 16 years ago, and literally nothing has changed. We’re used to four- and five-star hotels, but enjoyed the location and the very nice people running the place. It’s relaxed and reasonably priced, with a lovely roof terrace for a beer or coffee. The harbor view and location are hard to beat, the breakfast is decent, the beds are comfortable, the room was clean, and there’s a nice little balcony. The air conditioning is old and a bit noisy, though we didn’t need it since it wasn’t summer. It’s an old hotel, so don’t expect perfection. If you’re easygoing and can live with a few imperfections, I highly recommend it.

The view from the room balcony is beautiful, and the hotel sits right by the Harbour and the famous Cyprus Castle. Mehmet abi at reception was kind and friendly. The place is clean, but its age makes it look dirty, and it urgently needs updating.

This was my second stay here. I was feeling very unwell and asked a friend to come help me get things ready before check-out, but they wouldn’t let my friend come up to my room. They showed absolutely no compassion. If you expect decent human treatment, don’t come here.

The location is good, but this place has clearly seen better days, and the staff seem fed up too. I’d pick another hotel.
