Tylos Beach Hotel

The breakfast was low quality, and there was rubbish in the view from the balcony. We also found a cockroach and a lizard waiting for us. The smell coming from the tavern was awful, so sitting on the balcony wasn’t possible. The room looked nothing like the photos: old, outdated furniture, dirty torn curtains, and lights in poor condition. The air conditioning was just a ventilator and stopped after a few hours during the night. They advertise parking, but what they mean is parking illegally on the pavement. There was supposed to be a coffee machine, but all we found was a kettle and a few cups, with no coffee sachets. The owners were extremely rude and ready to argue and insult us over even a slight complaint. They spoke without respect or manners and told terrible lies. The old lady who owns the place yelled at the service, which made us uncomfortable. Be careful, what you get is different from what you booked. The attached photos show the differences.

We were recommended this hotel by a friend as a way to see this part of the island. It was a lovely, quiet place, and our Mountain View room had what we needed for washing, sleeping, eating, and drinking. We started our days of local walking and hiking with an enjoyable breakfast, then had freshly made dinner in the evening. The service was great and the staff were friendly. We’ll definitely go again. 😀

The sea view was stunning, and I loved the hotel’s location. I booked myself a birthday treat, and the spotless double room with ensuite and refrigerator was perfect. Breakfast changed from day to day, though there was no milk, bowls, or spoons for cereal, so I skipped it. I wanted to make my own tea or coffee, but there was no milk for that either, and I didn’t want a drink already prepared by the machine. On the first day there was ham, local salami, cheese, tomato, toast, a boiled egg, and jam. Day two was the same except for the cold meats. I enjoyed the accommodation and location, but the food I had there on the first night wasn’t great. Since I stayed in mid-October, I’d suggest eating elsewhere toward the end of the season.

We’ve been to Tylos beach hotel three times now, and I almost don’t want to review it because it feels like our little secret. We visit out of season, so it’s not the place for anyone looking for a lively time. It’s lovely for a peaceful break, beautiful views, warm service, fantastic fish, and the best salad we’ve ever had. Our three nights in December worked their magic on me and my partner, and we came away feeling rejuvenated. The Nepalese lady was fantastic and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble.
