Le Chateau Lambousa Hotel

The dining room felt depressing, like a dungeon. It’s downstairs, has no windows and no atmosphere. Breakfast was okay if you stuck to cereal, fruit and coffee, but the evening meal was shocking. Once was enough for us. The rooms all need refurbishing. The cream carpets were dirty and badly stained, the bathroom fittings were rusty, and there was mould around the bath and shower. The wardrobe doors came off their runners when you tried to open them. I definitely wouldn’t go back.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever visited. We arrived at midnight and were shocked within minutes. Our room was technically a suite with two bedrooms, but it smelled of sewage, and the carpets looked as if there was vomit all over them. The bedsheets were dirty and smelled awful. Since it was late, we had to stay the night. We left the next morning without getting any money back. Also, this hotel doesn’t have a beach. You have to cross the road in front of it to reach what they call a beach, if you can even call it that.

The place is comfortable and has a really relaxing feel, and for a 4 star hotel the condition and price compare well with others. The weak points are the food, which is very poor, and the small, inexperienced staff. In North Cyprus, where there are some of the best food options, that really lets the hotel down. With more attention to service, it could attract a lot of customers.

The hotel looks as if it could be great, which makes the experience a shame. We stopped at the bar for a drink and dinner, but they had no change at first. The burger was very poor, and the battered fish arrived cold. After we sent it back, it came out of the microwave with even soggier batter. The red house wine tasted like sugary water. The manager said there was no chef on site and offered only tea or coffee as compensation. I was really disappointed with the food and service.
