The courtyard was my favorite part. In the evenings, people would gather there to unwind, chat, and meet travelers from all over, making for a lovely social atmosphere without things getting loud or chaotic. There’s also a kitchen, which came in handy. The hostel is in a quiet, cozy part of Larnaca, and the beach is only a short walk away. You can choose between a dorm or a private room, depending on whether you want to meet people or have more privacy. I stayed in September 2021, during the COVID restrictions, and still really enjoyed it. I caught COVID just after arriving, but the atmosphere made the experience much easier and more comfortable. It’s a warm, peaceful, welcoming place with a great international feel. I’d definitely stay again if I come back to Cyprus.

The rooms don’t have much insulation, so noise gets through and you may smell smoke if people are smoking on the balcony. Earplugs help. Aside from that, it’s a great hostel: clean, nicely decorated, well located, and the communication and service are good.

The owner Gregory was super friendly and helpful, and I’d recommend the hostel. It’s really nice and well located near the beach. Laundry cost 3 euros, which I really appreciated.

We had a clean room with a private bathroom, and I was glad to have that. The air conditioning was a welcome break from the heat, and being able to leave our luggage after check-out was very convenient. The hostel has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere, with lovely peaceful outdoor seating. It’s close to both the beach and town, and easy to reach from the airport by bus or taxi. The staff were friendly and helpful. I personally wouldn’t cook in the kitchen, though it’s fine for a quick breakfast. I’d definitely come back!

The location made it easy to explore, with the sea just a short walk away. Shared spaces felt relaxed and comfortable. I also enjoyed cooking, and the kitchen was tidy, in great shape, and everything worked, so making a simple meal was easy. The staff refreshed the clean, well-kept rooms and common areas every morning. My bed was comfortable and practical, with a curtain, a good lamp, and a working outlet, which helped me settle in. I had a really good stay at Le Mat Hostel and would certainly recommend it.
