Mikes Kanarium City Hotel

I stayed for a couple of nights in January. The room was clean and a good size, and the location was very convenient. I could walk to the center, and driving from the airport was straightforward. There was free outdoor parking just around the block. The sound insulation needs work. I could hear everything in the corridor and from the neighbors through the thin walls. The shower thermostat didn't work, so the water kept jumping between very cold and very hot. It seems the bar has live music on some nights until midnight, and it was easy to hear from my room. Check-in late at night was unpleasant because a drunk man was roaming around Reception and the bar. He wasn't a guest, but was inside the hotel.

On my last trip to Cyprus, in summer 2025, late May to be precise, I checked out Mike's Kanarium Hotel. I'm Vegan, so I asked the receptionist if I could stay there on a possible return in September 2025. He flatly said no, bluntly and without welcoming me or apologizing. I was taken aback, so I told my friend, come on, let's go! Mike's Kanarium Hotel, please reconsider your approach and attitude to #Vegan food. It can be easy to prepare, and I wasn't expecting anything fancy. Salads, Beans/Pulses, potatoes, pasta, vegetable burgers, vegetables, rice, and similar food would do. A professional chef can make vegan food, they just have to be asked. Cyprus is also a Greek Orthodox Country, at least in the South, and people fast quite a lot, especially before Orthodox Easter. Orthodox visitors and #Vegan patrons could miss out too. There are #Vegan visitors to Cyprus who need catering for. Reception should not have this attitude either. This is not how you do business, and shame on you. I lowered the stars because of the poor attitude. If they had been more welcoming, it would have been a different story. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're Vegan, and perhaps not if you're Vegetarian either. It may be fine for meat eaters. No-no from me!

Dinner was so good that we kept eating even when we were full, and the rest of the food was perfect too. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy, and the air conditioning worked well. The hotel sits in a quiet part of Larnaca city center, about 6minutes from Finikoudes beach. It's near bus stop 425 from the airport and also close to Mekenzie beach. Fantastic hotel, and I'd be happy to come again. I recommend it to everyone.

We loved staying here. The room was clean and convenient, the beds were comfortable, and reception service was very good. She even booked us a cheaper taxi to the airport. It's a quiet spot, about 7 minutes on foot from the center and 6 minutes from the beach. That distance is actually a plus, since places right by the beach can get noise from nearby restaurants and bars. Breakfast was nice, with eggs, sausage, bacon, jam, a variety of cheese, cold meats, pastries, and a small salad.
