Operetta House

The rooms and stay were fine, and the location was good. There was a sewage smell at one point, though I understand that's fairly common in Larnaca. The real problem came after checkout, when I realized I'd left a personal item behind. I know forgetting it was my fault, and I understood it might not be found. But trying to report it and get someone to look was RIDICULOUS. I called that same day. The woman who answered barely spoke English, and it took about 20 minutes for her to understand what I meant. She said she'd ask housekeeping and told me to email so they could reply. I couldn't find an email address online, so I used the contact form. Several days passed without a reply. When I called again, there were no notes about my earlier call. The person who answered this time understood me and took my phone number, but I still haven't heard back. At this point, I know there's basically no chance of getting it back.

The building is quite old, and checking in was confusing because reception is on a different street from the rooms. We had to carry our luggage around to find it, then go back to the street where we were staying. I wouldn't personally recommend this hotel. The room was very basic, with dated shower facilities, and could have been cleaner. We found hair on the bed, and the Wi-Fi didn't work in our room. There was no phone to call reception if we needed anything. A restaurant below the window had live music with a microphone until 11 PM, and it was very loud inside the room.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the stay was pleasant. The only trouble was the central location near the church. Its Sunday service started at 7am, and the sound came through very loudly because they have speakers outside.

Amazing people and a lovely place! 10 stars. I'll be back!
