Nereus Hotel

The staff were a real highlight, especially the man at reception, who seemed to do everything with such a great attitude. Breakfast was good quality, though the selection wasn’t very big. The room looked nice but felt old, and you can’t put paper in the toilet. The thin walls were the hardest part: we could hear a man snoring in the next room, and it was difficult to fall asleep. Connecting doors also meant we worried people might try to get into our room. The location is great.

The price was good for what we got: a clean, decent-sized room and a comfortable bed. Breakfast is included, with delicious pastries, and it’s no longer vegetarian only. We could walk to tourist attractions and lots of restaurants, and the front desk team and other staff were friendly. At night, though, loud music and karaoke from nearby restaurants carried into the room until very late. We also heard other guests in the hallway, and the toilet sometimes dripped slowly.

Getting around Paphos was easy from here, with several bus stops about a five-minute walk away and lots of beaches within walking distance. We found the staff helpful and friendly across reception, housekeeping, the bar, and the restaurant. Breakfast came with the stay and gave us plenty of good options to start the day. The beds were comfortable, and the staff kept everything clean daily. For a three-star hotel at these low prices, the rooms are great value, though you shouldn’t expect anything out of this world.

The Harbour was an easy 10-20 minute walk, depending on your pace, and there’s a corner shop a minute away with car rentals all around. We had lunch at the hotel on our last day, and the chicken club sandwich was delicious. The chips came out cold, but the barman replaced them right away and apologized. The fresh ones were perfect. I came here to stay with my nan after the hotel I’d booked, Pahiessa, turned out awful. They were so helpful and charged just €25 a night for our four nights, with breakfast included each morning. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the place looked and smelled clean, with cleaning staff constantly mopping. Breakfast had a nice variety, including my favourite, bacon pancakes. The staff deserve a lot of credit, and my family and I are already looking at staying again next year.
