Princessa Vera Hotel Apartments

The place was very clean, the food tasty and generous, and we never struggled to find a sunbed. The staff were fantastic, especially Irina, who was helpful and always cheerful with guests. Pitstop bar is a great spot, too. The big disappointment was the construction next door. Cement mixing started at 6:30 in the morning, after partying at Pitstop bar had gone on into the early hours. The air conditioning muffled some of the noise at times. The female receptionist seemed apathetic when I asked about another option, saying she would check the next day. For the next year or so, try to avoid the right-hand side of the building if you can. Rooms at the front face the main road, which can also be noisy.

We spent 10 nights here and had a nice, laid-back stay. The location made it easy to get to lots of restaurants, and our basic room, number 325, overlooked the pool and was fine apart from the air conditioning. Even with it running, it was so hot that we had to leave the patio door open at night. We chose bed and breakfast rather than all-inclusive, which suited us. The room had a fridge, kettle, microwave, plates and cutlery. Breakfast was adequate, with plenty of choice.

We arrived at 11 p.m. expecting the one-bedroom apartment with two single beds that we had booked, but were given a room with one double bed instead. The hotel said it couldn’t move us until the following day, so one of us had to sleep on a sofa in a friend’s room at the same hotel. After being messed around for an hour and a half the next day, we were finally moved. When we asked the manager about getting the first night refunded, we were told to sort it out by email later. I contacted them, but now they say it’s too late because we’ve left. We paid in advance, so I don’t see why that should matter. They put us in the wrong room and then lied about the refund.

The rear block has fantastic sea views, while rooms in the front block might face the pool or the main road. The rooms are clean and nicely presented, and the hotel is pleasant and centrally located. A luxury apartment building is going up next door, bringing some traffic to the site and a little construction noise, though it wasn’t too bad. Restaurant meals were good, with good service, and the bar has a nice street-facing area. It’s been a pleasant stay so far.
