The pool area is huge, and the staff, even the security guard, were very helpful. With a supermarket opposite and the harbour only a stones throw away, the location is fantastic. This is a clean, spacious budget hotel with great value for money. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back. It does need renovation, though that could mean it stops being a budget hotel. A few quick improvements to the self-catering apartments would help: provide a broom, tea towel, clothes rack, and cloth.

We were very happy with our stay at Basilica Holiday Resort and would definitely come back. The room was quiet, comfortable, bright, spacious, and always clean and shiny. We hadn't expected daily service, but they cleaned every day and changed the towels too. Our apartment overlooked the swimming pool in the yard, and it had two bedrooms and a double bed, which worked very well for two girls. The kitchen was fully equipped, with a blender and kettle, plus a TV, comfortable sofa, dining area, and hair dryer. That was a big plus, since at other hotels we've had to pay extra for things like a kettle. They also supplied shower gel, conditioner, and body cream. We were pleasantly surprised by the sweets the hotel gave us. There was a small parking area outside, but we always found a spot, even though it was busy for February. Lots of guests were using the gym and swimming, so the place felt lively while staying quiet and calm. The location suited us perfectly in the central part of the city, opposite Sklavenitis supermarket. The bathroom had a bathtub and very strong hot water pressure. Reception told us we'd have to wait about 30 minutes for the boiler to heat the water, but once it was ready, it was very hot and good. The only things I missed were bathrobes and slippers. We brought our own slippers.

Cyrstella was friendly and chatty when she checked us out. Before that, we had a comfortable, quiet three-hour wait in reception while it rained, with a comfy sofa and charging points. There was a large, clean, well-stocked supermarket directly opposite the hotel, a Vietnamese restaurant next door, and some takeaways nearby. When we arrived shortly after 6pm, Evanthia greeted us warmly and checked us in. The toilet handle wouldn't flush properly, so we reported it before heading out for food. On our return, the plumber was nearly done. He said to yank the handle three or four times and he'd come back in the morning to replace a part. We weren't comfortable relying on that, so reception offered two other rooms, one with a shower and one with a bath. Both bathrooms had little insects that looked like small roaches. We asked about insecticide. At first she said there was some, then she decided to upgrade us from a studio to a one-bedroom apartment and offered two options. I chose 224 because the even-numbered rooms at Harbour Suite have better views than the odd-numbered ones. It looked out over the harbour and shops. The apartment had enough space for two for our week, but the rooms badly need updating. The bedroom had two twin beds pushed together, bedside tables with drawers, a wardrobe, desk, and chair. The safe cost €2 a day and was too small for our 16-inch laptops, so we didn't use it. The bathroom was spacious and had a powerful shower. Its push-button flush was broken, but still worked. The light switch cover kept falling off, making it hard to turn the light on and off. We reported that and the very dirty bedroom windows, but neither issue seemed to be dealt with, so we kept the curtains closed. The fridge was in the dining room corner rather than the kitchen, which was fine. There was a dining table with four chairs, an armchair, a sofa, two small coffee tables, and two chairs and a table on the balcony.

The pool area was excellent, and the rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped, with air conditioning. We were also really happy with the food, which had plenty of choice and was excellent every day. Staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Shops, restaurants and the harbour are just yards away along a beautiful promenade, and there’s a supermarket right across the street.
