Iris Beach Hotel

The bike and helmet rental turned into one of the best parts of our stay. We rode a trail by the sea, an unforgettable experience that added a lot to the trip. Staff were fantastic too, attentive, friendly, and keen to make us comfortable. The hotel was very clean and well maintained, though there was a strong mould-like smell on the first day, especially near the spa. It had disappeared by day two, thankfully, but the area needs attention. Breakfast was enjoyable, with plenty of juice and tea, a great coffee machine, and satisfying English-style options. I did miss the smoked salmon that many hotels have. Dinner was a letdown: the feta was undercooked, the pasta pomodoro tasted tinned, and the steak was mediocre at best. The cocktails were alright.

The sea view from our room was a lovely bonus, and the bed was so comfortable that we slept perfectly. Everything was clean and thoughtfully laid out, with slippers, coffee and a machine, a hairdryer, bathroom amenities, and drinking water provided. My husband and I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, and the hotel had champagne and a delicious dessert waiting for us, along with warm congratulations. It was such a touching gesture and made the occasion more memorable. From the first few minutes, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for; the atmosphere was cozy and made us feel valued. The food was delicious throughout. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was fresh, and the dishes were prepared with care. We really enjoyed every meal. We'd be happy to come back.

The front desk staff were exceptionally kind. Calling to reserve and checking in were both handled wonderfully, and the hotel's design, inside and out, is a real pleasure, with great style, clever ideas, and lovely materials. There are plenty of reasons for my top rating. Cleanliness needs work, though. Our room floors hadn't been vacuumed properly, with hairs still visible, and there was a lot of hair from previous guests in the shower drains. The spa toilets were quite dirty too. It looked like the problem had built up over time, rather than being a one-day lapse. Breakfast staff were only average by comparison. They weren't as attentive or friendly as the reception team. Better cleaning and a little more care at breakfast would bring those areas closer to the otherwise fantastic hotel and service.

It's my birthday today, and we came for just one night to celebrate. The room is spotless, and Maria and Elisabeth at the spa are absolutely professional and so helpful. Everyone else has been smiley and kind too, and the hotel has a lovely atmosphere and good vibes. Thanks for the complimentary balloons and birthday extras. We're definitely coming back.
