Tsokkos Sun Gardens Hotel Apartments

We enjoyed our first visit last September enough to come back this October. The food was good, with lots of choice, and the snack bar's burgers and chips were nice. The hotel and apartments are lovely, and beaches and other amenities aren't far away. The bathroom was great, with a good shower and toiletries. The main letdown was the wardrobe, which had no shelves and only five hangers.

The food was a real highlight. We chose all inclusive so we didn't have to think about paying separately for meals or drinks, and there was a different theme each day with plenty of salad and fruit. A family member has specific dietary needs, and the chefs made her a separate meal that suited them, presented beautifully. The wait staff were always smiling and took great care of us. By the main pool, the Hut serves food at certain times and drinks all day. Angela there is such a star, sweet, attentive, bubbly, and always smiling. She makes the best drinks. The chef's burgers are the BEST, and saved me when I slept in and missed breakfast or lunch. The pools are lovely in the heat, although one is losing its mosaic tiles. The rooms are good, with two comfortable but firm single beds, suitable whether you're with your other half or on your own. The bathroom is nice, though the bath feels cramped. A walk-in shower might work better, especially for guests who have trouble getting around independently. The staff are fantastic. Management can be a bit stern, but I imagine the size of the hotel makes their jobs stressful. I'd recommend it, 9.5/10!

The food was awful. The beans tasted sour, the pasta was floating in water, and the moussaka was revolting. The waiting staff couldn't even smile. The entertainment and music were boring, and the children's entertainment was just a man having the kids copy his attempt at dancing. The rooms were somewhat clean and room service was good. Before we left, we were asked to pay for WiFi even though we'd connected using the free option!

I've stayed here for years and usually had a good experience, but this year was a big letdown. The all-inclusive drinks had no fizz, and when we asked if the barrel could be changed or the drinks improved, a bar staff member said, “if we want shit go elsewhere.” Disgusting service. Most staff were rude and arrogant, though a handful were friendly. The food on the all-inclusive plan was ice cold. The hotel is run down, there's an unbearable smell from a huge skip of waste on the grounds, and several sunbeds were broken. For our booking for three adults, all over 18, we got two proper beds and a portable one at their foot. It had a thin mattress that wasn't suitable even for a child, never mind a grown adult. We also had a terrible experience asking about late checkout. The leaflet we'd been given said €50 until 6pm, but the rude, arrogant man at reception said 5pm for €50 and, when shown the leaflet, told me, “I’m offering you till 5pm take it or leave it.” I said I'd be happy with another room until 6pm, but he claimed there was no availability. The hotel was a ghost town, so it felt like he just didn't want to inconvenience himself. This place has gone massively downhill since previous years. I won't be returning.
