Villa Dioni

The villa is in a very sought-after part of Peiya, Pafos, and the pool was fantastic. Even on a hot day, the water didn't feel cold. We had good-sized bedrooms and plenty of room, with lots of cutlery, toys, games and speakers. We left a few things for the next family. The bins are a bit of a walk, right down by the main road, though two small ones nearby help for now. We were told there'd be a welcome basket, but nothing was there when we arrived, so we had to buy bread, milk, eggs, fruit and other basics. The water cooler needed a refill, and you can buy the kegs for a few euros. The Wi-Fi is quite slow and bad, and the TV is dated. You don't come away to watch TV, but keep it in mind if you have kids or want it in the evening. The cat is friendly and can be hand-fed, though it's skittish. I think it's called Aphrodite. It likes milk, cheese, cat biscuits and tuna. The jacuzzi was great, but you need to fill the water above the pumps before turning them on. It might take a few five-second holds, and pushing water into the side grill to get it started. Use the hot water during the day while it's hot, to avoid paying for more. Coral Bay is nearby, but we preferred going to “Kato pafos,” where the Pafos castle is. That strip has things for kids and watches and similar things for adults, plus plenty of good food. Of the restaurants, we'd recommend Ocean basket, 100% the best. A day trip to Ayia napa is recommended, though it's about two hours in the car, so set off back before it gets too late. Visit the beaches, the tomb of the kings, the kings mall, the nearby shipwreck and caves too. We'd stay again. The price is good, but budget for buying plenty of extra food.
