Forest Park Hotel

The hotel was cold, poorly maintained, and fell far short of what we paid for. We booked two large rooms but were given one large room and one smaller one, with no explanation or compensation. It was the end of January, but the staff refused to turn on the central heating, saying they don’t activate it when there aren’t many guests. Our room, the lobby, and even the dining room at breakfast were freezing. The small electric heaters they provided barely helped. In our shower, there was nowhere to mount the shower head, so we had to hold it the whole time. The website says checkout is at 12:00, but staff told us we had to leave by 11:00 on Saturdays. On its own that wouldn’t be a major issue, but along with everything else it felt like another sign of poor service and lack of care. We wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Forest Park hotel is old, full of history, and beautiful, like a vintage forest paradise in the mountains. I’ve stayed here twice now. The first was in winter, when it was snowing and magical. This summer visit was just as lovely, with the smell of the trees and the soft wind moving through them. So peaceful. The Cyprus summer heat is strong this time of year, so I’d stay indoors and enjoy the air conditioning, other amenities, and delicious food. At night there was a live show with a band and an a la carte menu. We sat outside under the fairy lights and enjoyed a drink and a meal, or maybe just a snack. This time I tried the pizza special, which was excellent. Last time I had the chicken with mushroom sauce, just as delicious. Take a stroll around the nearby villages, visit some landmarks, or go hiking in the right season. Use sunscreen and enjoy! :)

The rooms were clean, and the staff were very polite and welcoming, even though the place needs general renovation. But the weekend live music was extremely annoying. It echoed loudly into the rooms and was even too loud to sit on the patio and enjoy a meal. After a long hike, most people want a quiet night. That’s why we came. It felt like trying to sleep above a nightclub.

After a great day hiking nearby, we enjoyed our one night here. It’s definitely a step back in time, and we embraced that. Historical information and photos of the hotel’s original owner added to the charm. The place is dated, and the bathroom needs refurbishment, but it was perfectly usable. Our room was comfortable, the staff helpful and polite, and the mattresses were the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. Thanks for the hospitality.
