Kallithea Inn

We were staying with our two daughters, aged 10 and 3, and left after just the first night of a paid three-night stay. We'd had no sleep and didn't feel safe, and couldn't face another night like that. The owner later dismissed the problem as an exaggeration and wouldn't refund the nights we didn't use. Our holiday was ruined. I definitely wouldn't call this a family hotel. The trouble was three young people in the last room on our floor, while we were in the first. From about 1am to 3am, they shouted, hit the walls with their hands and a ball, and kept the whole floor awake. They'd already been yelling on the road as they came in, then carried on in their room. The noise felt as if they were shouting right inside ours. I didn't knock because I thought they might be drunk or on drugs, and I was afraid for my safety. There was nobody at reception overnight, since it closes then. I called the hotel number and got no answer. They called me back later, I explained what was happening, and they sent the hotel maid to knock and calm the guests down. At checkout, the receptionist's only response was that the three had already checked out because it was their last night, so the next night would be fine. I had paid for three nights, but after leaving I called to ask for a refund because we hadn't received the remaining service.

The hotel's right at the start of a trail, so you can head out hiking straight from there. Dinner was excellent, with generous servings, fair prices, and meat grilled really well. Breakfast, on the other hand, didn't seem very nutritious to us. The service was professional, attentive, and friendly, and our clean room had a lovely view. It felt quite retro for the price and could be more modern. The walls are thin, so we could hear people talking late in the evening, which wasn't pleasant. Still, we had a lovely stay and recommend it.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We had a great time at Kalithea Inn, and the food was delicious. A lovely place for a meal, highly recommended!

The Moussaka was the best part of our day. My husband and I hadn't planned to stop, but spotted the place while driving through Pano Platres on a trip around the beautifulTroodos mountains. We pulled over to see if they served food, and they did. Chara looked after us, took our order, and brought drinks while we sat by a cozy log burner. She chatted with us while we waited and made us feel really welcome. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Jo and Andy from UK.
