Villa Tsikkos Tessera

The pool was in poor condition, with its lining peeling and blue pieces scattered around the bottom. It didn't seem to be properly cleaned, either through the filters or by anyone at the property. We also found the games equipment in bad shape. We booked partly because of the ping pong and pool tables, but both were broken or worn out. To use the pool table, we had to give up a parking space, leaving our cars outside. The owner complained that we had three cars instead of two, though I don't know what difference that made. The pool cues had no tips, the cloth had holes, and one leg was broken. The ping pong table was damaged by sun exposure, and the balls were deflated and the rackets sun-worn. We also weren't given key information on the Vrbo site or in the booking emails. The lounge AC costs 10 euros a day, and the room AC temperature is kept at a minimum of 26. We hadn't been told that guests weren't allowed, either. The owner came by once or twice a day, and we wanted privacy, so we wouldn't have booked had we known. When he came to tell us no guests were allowed, he was very aggressive. He also said he didn't want any Cypriots in the property to begin with. The pictures were a bit misleading. Just don't bother.

The cameras outside the property seemed to cover the private road and the cars, and possibly people going into the villa. The owner told us he had seen us through the cameras, which left us very uncomfortable and feeling watched during our stay. There were ants throughout the villa, constantly getting into our food and belongings. The facilities were in terrible shape. The pool lining was peeling in several places and made swimming unpleasant, and it looked like the pool hadn't been maintained properly for a long time. The pool table was in very poor condition too. The table tennis setup was no better: the net was falling apart, the paddles were broken, and the table was just blue-painted wood with metal legs, nowhere near a proper table tennis table. Our short visit as guests of the tenants was a disaster. My friends chose Tsikkos Dio Villa for its advertised amenities, but the owner confronted us aggressively the day after we arrived and said tenants weren't allowed to have guests. The VRBO listing didn't mention that rule, so we felt deceived and unwelcome. He was rude and aggressive, and said he never wanted Cypriots renting his villa. That racist behaviour made our group uncomfortable. With the hostile, unprofessional owner and all these problems, the villa wasn't worth the hassle. I'd strongly advise others to avoid it.

The description said the villa could sleep six, with room for two more on the couches, but a double sofa bed listed on Vrbo wasn't there. When the air conditioning in the main living area wasn't working at our arrival, it was later fixed, but we were told there'd be an extra charge. That charge was eventually waived. The pool area was dirty and poorly maintained, and the snooker and ping pong tables were in terrible condition. We were a group of six friends who booked Villa Tsikkos Dio for a week in August 2024 through Vrbo/Eos Travel. The property didn't match its listing. Things got worse when the owner angrily confronted us for having friends over. Although there was space, he said additional guests weren't allowed, a rule the listing hadn't mentioned. His manner was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. The villa needed maintenance, and the stay fell far short of what was advertised. I'd like the booking agent to make its listings more accurate and vet the properties and owners carefully so future guests have a better experience.

The owner came by every day between 7 and 8:30 am to "clean" the pool. We didn't want that, and it felt like an invasion of privacy. I wouldn't have booked if I'd known he'd be there each morning. The worst part was his behaviour, which spoiled the last two days of our holiday, even though we tried to enjoy ourselves otherwise. We booked Tsikkos Dio for 10-17/08/2024. The beds were about as comfortable as the floor, and the pool badly needed work. Its waterproof lining was chipping, algae was clearly forming in the small pool, and half the jets didn't work. Our white swimsuits all turned green after swimming, though I'm not sure what was in the water. The table tennis and snooker tables were well past their best. The snooker table took up the only parking space, so we had to choose between parking and playing. The photos were misleading. They looked as if they were taken 15 years ago, and little was as it seemed apart from the BBQ area. They tried to charge us for the living room AC, though that fee wasn't stated anywhere. We pointed this out, and Eos Travel agreed and apologised. The villa description said it slept six, with two more on the couches. Two friends visited during the last two days. We didn't think to ask, since there was room for two more and no rule about visitors had been shared. One afternoon, the owner woke me up and angrily said we hadn't respected his rules about inviting guests, even though he hadn't told us those rules. He said he'd had previous incidents and that's why he didn't want Cypriots renting the villa in the first place. We hadn't thrown a party, just shared a meal and played board games. I don't know how we were supposed to feel at home when we couldn't have people over. Those rules are just crazy.
