It was a good stay, and the food was good too. The location is amazing, with great views, and the rooms are clean and neat. They’re not luxurious, but work well for a night or two. There’s no AC, so the room felt a bit hot.

Our two nights were very uncomfortable. The mattress was springy and unpleasant, almost like an inflatable one, and we developed nasal congestion. There was no ventilation system or air conditioning in the room. In our part of the hotel, a strong formaldehyde smell was noticeable in the corridor and in our room, number 403. Staff acknowledged they could smell it too, but didn’t know its source. Opening the windows didn’t solve things: from evening through the night, smoke smelled strongly outside. The hotel chimney might be positioned incorrectly. We came for fresh air and instead were exposed to formaldehyde and carbon monoxide.

I was there January 11-12, and the online pictures were so edited they didn’t show what the hotel was really like. Breakfast didn’t resemble the images either, and the spa wasn’t working. The price felt far too high, as if they were taking advantage of being the only hotel around. I wouldn’t come back for a holiday unless the rates were more reasonable.

It gets pretty busy, but I still think it’s worth it 😍. Even on busy days, you can see the quality of the hotel and restaurant. The staff try to make everything perfect for everyone, which is amazing. It feels very warm inside, and the ambience was great ❤️

The place to stay is very basic, and I found the no-pets rule disappointing. I’ve travelled widely around Europe and stayed in lots of four- and five-star hotels that were much more welcoming to pets. In many European countries, even high-end hotels let pets stay and try to make them comfortable. Cyprus seems behind current hospitality standards, and the approach feels outdated and out of touch with what today’s travellers expect.
