The square and castle make this a captivating place, and I keep coming back to unwind, sometimes travelling all the way from Prague. The first electrified line from Tábor to Bechyně runs through Krizik, by the way.

Bechyne has so many lovely corners that you really have to see it in person. The viaduct is especially beautiful, and the square and view from the Kodtol tower are great too. The town and surrounding area are a photographer's paradise.
I spent summers there with my parents when I was around 5-7 years old. My uncle built the bridge, and our neighbor was Dr. Křížík, the son of the arc lantern's inventor. He had a workshop and a floating jeep. I learned to swim in the Lužnice River. That was 60 years ago.
The bridge is an unusual sight because it carries both trains and road traffic, and there's a beautiful view across the Lužnice valley.
Bechyně really takes your breath away. The parklands are lovely for a walk, and there are places to get refreshments afterwards, though they all seem to close too early.
