Hostel Mitte

I had a great two-night stay at the Mitte. The bed was comfortable, the showers were good, and it was a great price for the money. It’s near many of the sites, with a tram stop just 3 minutes away. The train station is a 10-minute walk, and getting the keys at the cafe was easy. It got pretty loud at night with the windows open, but I’d brought earplugs.

The room was basic, and the woman who checked me in didn’t seem interested when I asked a question. The location is very convenient if you arrive by public transport, but not ideal for drivers or bikers. They provide earplugs, and you’ll need them for church bells ringing every 15 minutes, day and night.

It’s very central, and you can walk to everything. The hostel was clean, had plenty of bathrooms, and gave out free towels, which was lovely. The kitchen was basic, with one stove ring and a microwave, but it did the job for a few days. It’s not a social place by nature, though I got lucky with the people in my room. I slept right by a heater and was uncomfortably hot all night, while others were too cold with the window open. Staff weren’t around when I had questions. Also, despite what Google suggests, breakfast isn’t free. They offer a discount at a nearby bistro.

We rented an apartment with a kitchen and found it comfortable, super clean, and equipped with everything we needed. It’s very central, with cafes and restaurants close by and everywhere walkable. Their cafe downstairs has great coffee, and guests get a discount there. The staff were sweet, helpful, and professional. Driving in the old town has some strict rules, so leaving your car outside may help you avoid a fine. They gave us all the information we needed about parking, just a few minutes’ walk away.
