Pension Zámecek Milada

That beautiful building and garden could be lovely with proper upkeep, but the chateau was in such poor condition that I’d rather not return. We stayed there and the smell of cigarettes and other things was awful. I had to scrub the toilet and sink and dust the room before it felt safe to stay in. We hadn’t told the owner about the state of the room, since we were so shocked and wondered if it was just us. He had said it was cleaned. I wanted to leave, but didn’t want to ruin a holiday in an otherwise magical region. The food was another shock. For the whole week, the only fruit Mr. Ing. offered was a plate of moldy strawberries. The dishes were dirty, and the egg holders still had yolk on them from previous diners. The dining room is next to the private house, and whenever its door opened, a terrible smell came through. We also couldn’t see how or what they were cooking for us. There was a fountain of green water by the dining table, which did nothing for our appetite. The whole place should be inspected by the hygiene department. I feel sick just thinking about the food. We chose this stay based on the photos and glowing reviews. Now I wonder if the owner wrote them himself or had acquaintances do it. The garden would be great if someone maintained it as shown in the pictures. This place needs a new owner who knows how to run a guesthouse. We’ve taken similar trips around the Czech homelands about three times a year for years and never had an experience like this. I’m warning others, you’ll be disappointed, and your health could be at stake. We attached a photo showing what it really looks like today. We wrote a similar review after returning, but it mysteriously disappeared.

I want to warn anyone considering a stay at Milada chateau. It looked nothing like the photos online. The chateau and its guest areas were very neglected, as were the grounds. There was almost nothing for relaxing: no solarium or sauna, just a pool and a trampoline for children in the garden. The smell was the worst part. It was everywhere in the chateau and even in the adjoining mobile homes. The bar supposedly had a wide drink selection, but that seemed like a joke: there was beer and raspberry liqueur, and little else. Guests couldn’t access the bar. The tiny restaurant was also very neglected and smelled strongly. After dinner, I touched my plate and it reeked of cat urine. The owner seemed to do every job alone, from running the place and reception to cooking, waiting tables, gardening, and possibly maintenance. He was smiling and cooked well, but was far from professional. I strongly advise against staying here.

We were given a stay at Milada Chateau as a gift, and some reviews we read the day before departure had us worried. Once we arrived, though, the paved parking lot and clean, pleasant room put us at ease. I paid special attention to the smell mentioned in one review, but there was no bad smell or dirt to greet us. The bathroom was clean and fresh, and the owners were very nice. The food was perfect, with such generous portions that we’d probably gain weight if we stayed longer. The owner was helpful and suggested places for us to visit. We felt like guests of good friends. Driving 430 km was worth it, and we remember the chateau fondly. We were really satisfied and highly recommend it. Thank you, Jan and Laďa.

The owner made our stay especially enjoyable, looking after us throughout and recommending places to visit, including Lomeček and Čerchov lookout tower. We’ll definitely come back. The rooms were beautiful, clean, tidy, and had private bathrooms. The food was very good and portions were huge. There’s a large, well-kept garden with two clean fountains. Highly recommended.
