We booked at the last minute, so the price felt a bit high for a dorm room with a shared, dirty bathroom and kitchen. The rooms themselves were clean, had their own keys, and had new furniture. There’s a lift, and the receptionist was very nice and helpful when we arrived very late. They speak English. There’s no parking, so you have to leave your car on the street. This place is a student dorm that also takes tourists, not a B&B or hostel, though that wasn’t stated directly on Booking. We ended up sharing an apartment with students who live there permanently, which is why the kitchen and bathroom weren’t clean. I think tourists should be housed separately, or at least the bathroom should be cleaned before they arrive.

The rooms are quite basic, but everything was clean and I enjoyed my stay. My neighbor turned out to be a lovely person, a calm and polite lady. The managers were all very friendly and tried to help whenever I needed something. Thank you!

The reception staff speak English. It’s a nice dormitory, although the kitchen in each room isn’t very well equipped, with only an induction stove. If you’d like a balcony, make sure to ask for one when you make the reservation.

This place was terrible for the roughly half a year I stayed there. It might be different for a night or two, but that wasn’t my experience. Most of the staff didn’t speak English; when others had to deal with a problem, they’d suddenly act as if they couldn’t speak it either and wouldn’t even try. They seemed completely incompetent. If you complained, they’d usually smile and repeat the same sentence until you gave up. There were marks on the floor that I didn’t want to know the origin of, and lots of silverfish I could never get rid of. Staff also often came straight into the room. If you were in your underwear and they knocked, there wasn’t time to get dressed or even answer before they walked in and looked confused. You wouldn’t get an explanation either, just “no english, no english.” If you rent a room and the one next to it is empty, they may let someone else have it without warning. That person could suddenly be there and go through your things if you hadn’t locked them away. A colleague of mine was also told to move out early without a reason, though that didn’t happen to me. You can’t really call them about something like that because they won’t be able to answer in English. Make sure your deposit is counted as the last rent, or there’s a good chance you won’t get it back. They also charge extra if you use too much water. Still, this is probably the best student dorm in budweiß, so good luck and bring plenty of patience.
