Hotel Peregrin

My wife and I had a great stay. We were on the top floor in a spacious, cozy room with a terrace. The terrace view was lovely, and we could barely hear the street. The hotel is a little tucked away, but still right in the old town, about a five minute walk from everything. Reception was just as welcoming as the room. The lady there was really friendly. Hope we'll get back one day :)

I spent two weeks here while attending the global genome analysis workshop held every January in Cesky Krumlov, and I'm very glad I could stay at this hotel. Its location right beside the town square was perfect for getting to the Evomics genomics events. My room was cozy, the staff were wonderful, and breakfast each day was nice. They also kindly followed all my laundry instructions.

The central location was good, and we had the Odysseus room, their largest. It came with a nice terrace and a big bathroom, though it only had a bathtub to shower in. Still, this so-called boutique hotel felt like it offered no service, and I regret staying here. The room was stuffy and smelled bad, and it got very hot. There was no A/C, just a noisy fan, which they replaced after our first night. Breakfast in the basement was very basic, and getting to eat in the garden meant quite a walk. Reception was only supposed to be staffed from 8-12 in the mornings, but when I went down at 11 one day, nobody was there. Our room wasn't cleaned because my partner had a meeting from 10-12, and apparently they don't clean after noon. Arriving by car also means parking quite far away and paying a lot. I'm sure there are much better places to stay for less money. I've learned again that I should avoid these boutique hotels.

Parking was a hassle and the instructions weren't clear. You get 40 minutes of free parking in the lot, and during that time have to walk to the Info Center in the historical old town, pay, return to your car, exit using the first ticket, then re-enter with a new one. Because we weren't given enough information, we missed the 40 minute window and had to pay for another hour. We also arrived during some kind of festival, when the old town was closed. Entry required a cash-only ticket costing 21€ per person. We didn't want to buy one because we weren't interested in the event, but there was no choice. The hotel offered neither free cancellation nor a refund. The old town hotel itself was very nice and clean, and breakfast was wonderful. You can take it to their small roof garden. They need to communicate better, but otherwise I'd highly recommend it.
