Francis Palace Hotel

We've come here for the fifth time and are always extremely satisfied. The hotel is beautiful and in a quiet location. The rooms are cozy and cleaned daily. The treatments and wellness are great, and the chef and restaurant staff deserve compliments too.

The food impressed us both days. We added half board on arrival for €12 per guest per day, and that evening it was a 5-course menu. The quality was very good, and we liked the 4-course menu the next day just as much. Breakfast was plentiful enough and good quality too. The price we were offered was sensationally good, especially compared with the treatments, whose price-performance ratio also seemed remarkably good next to other spa resorts in the Czech Republic. We asked about the treatments during our short stay, and it seems you need to book early because the hotel is in high demand. We were also impressed by the wellness area, which was hardly used over the weekend, so we had the indoor pool to ourselves. The hotel has been renovated, with spacious rooms and bathrooms, and sits on the outskirts of Franzensbad with the spa park an easy walk away. The atmosphere was very pleasant and familiar. The friendly, helpful staff contributed to that, and it seemed to rub off on the other guests too.

It was our first spa hotel stay, and having everything in one place made it easy. The rooms were comfortable, the staff kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. We'd happily come back.

The hotel was clean, but breakfast had very little choice. Our room was for three and had no balcony; there was also a €15 charge for two days, plus tourist tax. I don't think it deserves four stars.
