Penzion Star Class

The accommodation was musty, and the cleaning of the room and surroundings needed more attention. Our room could have been Spiderman's, judging by the cobwebs. There was a kettle in the hall, plus a fridge with a freezer, while a microwave had been left on the floor in the children's room, presumably so kids could heat their breakfast without waking their parents. The apartment had no rubbish bin, and if someone showered upstairs, you heard it straight away. From the terrace we looked out at parked cars, grates and metal garages. The steps leading to it had loose, protruding screws; the light sensor looked wrecked after a head-on collision with nocturnal insects; rubbish from previous visits was on the ground; and the railing was barely holding on to its last piece of wood. The flowers in the pots seemed to have been thirsty for years. Getting to the guesthouse meant going down a secret, slightly spooky alley between houses, like an adventure for anyone looking for the entrance by secret symbols. The owner seems to have given up on the noticeboard, where the trip tips had disappeared, even though there are plenty of places to visit around here, perhaps from another accommodation 😉 As for the food at Axiom guesthouse, I definitely don't recommend it.

The staff deserve praise: they were kind, helpful, accommodating, smiling and chatty, and somehow managed whatever we asked. Breakfast at the neighbouring Axiom guesthouse was luxurious and delicious. Kids have plenty to do there too, with a sandbox and toys, swing, trampoline, house, boat, covered pool, grill and fireplace. The boat could do with its rusty protruding nails being removed 🫤. The Family Suite itself needs urgent renovation, inside and out. It's an older guesthouse, and coming in through the back reminded me of going to Outdoor School 😁. The room smelled musty, as if scents had been used to cover it up. The door didn't shut properly, windows were dirty, there were crumbs and unspread butter on the table, and the floor seemed to have had only a quick sweep. The fridge hadn't been washed and the microwave was shoved behind the door. It smelled damp and mouldy, though it wasn't so bad if you aired it a lot 😅. The waste pipe ran uncovered through the hallway corner, so every flush and shower upstairs could be heard. There was no clothes dryer or bin inside the apartment, though there was a bin in the hall outside. The bathroom was genuinely clean, including the toilet and the sink by the bathtub. Soap, toilet paper, paper towels, fragrance and good quality bath foam were a nice bonus. The garden view was of cars and metal sheds, but a few metres away you could see a slice of Lipno and the forests in the distance ❤️. We also had lots of flies and spiders, with cobwebs wherever you looked 😁. From the photos I expected a regular bed, but it was two daybeds joined side by side with wood. The beach has a bench and a beautiful view, but it isn't really 250m away unless you're measuring as the crow flies; it's about 500m along the road. The mouldy lino could perhaps be covered with a new layer, PatMat style :)

We ended up calling Starclass hotel in Frymburk, where we'd stayed last time, and luckily they had space so we could sleep in peace. The party right below our room had loud music going after 10pm. When I called, I was told, "what does the lady have to do with it, it is a celebration". The music carried on for another half hour, and it felt as though we were downstairs celebrating with them. The room looked quite nice, but both single beds were in poor condition and creaked like crazy. The bathroom was nice too, though the shower had a sloping ceiling for some unknown reason. Unless you're under 150cm, be prepared to shower twisted, in the style of a paragraph. I suggest the owners decide whether they want to run a bar or a guesthouse. Never again.

Breakfast was absolutely fine, and the restaurant at partner guesthouse Axiom was excellent, with a big wine selection and excellent Bajer beer! Communication with the guesthouse management was good. The first impression wasn't great, but the price matches the facility's quality and functionality. That makes it easier to overlook the occasional unprofessional service and other shortcomings.
