PENZION SVěTLá - ČESKý RáJ

We had a really pleasant stay in this family guesthouse, and the cuisine was a real highlight. The rooms were clean and comfortable, too. One small irritation over a week was having to pay to use the fridge on the floor. Little extras like afternoon coffee and dessert when everyone arrived around five, or a welcome drink, would have made it feel like a five-star stay. Still, the owner's cooking is absolutely worth coming back for.

The room itself was clean and worked fine, though the furnishings could be more stylish, so I'd give the accommodation three stars. Dinner is a different story. They serve guests just one dish each evening, but the local cooking is so good it would fit right in at a much more luxurious place. Definitely worth it.

The rooms are simply furnished, but this family pension near Semily is comfortable enough for a stay. Its real strength is the cooking. The owner is both chef and host, and together with his wife they make guests feel welcome. Each evening he puts together a two-course menu that tastes even better than it looks or smells. Then there's a made-to-order pancake, with decoration and flavor that are hard to match. I highly recommend staying here.

It's peaceful here, with beautiful nature around, and the owners are friendly. The two-course dinners are a highlight, with the owner cooking at the level of exclusive restaurants. He was also happy to adjust the menu when I couldn't have lactose and offered me an alternative dinner. The guesthouse is affordable and works for families with children, thanks to a great indoor play corner, as well as for older couples. I recommend it.
