The room itself was far more than a basic place to sleep: my double for five nights had two huge rooms, with enough space for a family. The bedroom had a double bed, fine period furniture and a decorative frieze around the upper walls. In the second room, a large sitting suite looked more like a display piece than somewhere comfortable to lounge, and there was a locked Victorian cabinet with delicate porcelain and fine crystal.
