LH Hotel Mědínek Old Town

The room was clean, and the bathroom was quite nice. The rest of the hotel feels dated, with old furniture and carpets. Breakfast was good, though there were no milk alternatives or gluten-free options. Bar service could have been better.

The room choices they showed us included one that hadn't even been cleaned; the others had holes in the doors or earplugs for dealing with the unbearable noise from the square. The hotel is old, much of the furniture is falling apart, the table drawers had bubbles forming inside, and the bathroom looked moldy. Even the water smelled like sewage. When we raised the problems, staff offered different rooms, then offered a refund and a drink. The bartender said the sewage smell was normal in winter. Management promised to call the next day, but only got in touch four days later, after we'd sent several messages. They said the money would arrive by the end of the week, after a Tuesday call. By Monday it still hadn't come, and there was no further information. I wrote again, got an apology and another promise to send it that day, but nothing arrived then either. This was the worst hotel stay I've ever had, truly miserable. If you want to enjoy your trip to Kutná Hora at least a little, I'd avoid this hotel.

The parking was the main reason I gave this place three stars. We paid for a reserved spot in the hotel parking lot, but when we drove away, the space was taken and we couldn't get it back. Finding another spot, even on nearby streets, was a real headache. If you're arriving by car, keep that in mind. We stayed almost a week. The location is very good, with lots of points of interest within walking distance, and the staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. There was only one person at reception for all the guests and phone calls, so sometimes we had to wait. On our last day, repeated short power outages left the rooms without hot water for at least 24 hours. It may have been a temporary technical problem, but we don't know if it will happen again.

I only had lunch at the hotel's restaurant, I didn't stay there. The food was really delicious, and I loved it. If I go back, I'll book a room and stay there too.
