Liberec Hotel

The rooms are brightly painted and fairly cozy, and breakfast is fine with quite a big selection of food. It was a great hotel price, 44 euros for a two-bed room, and the place has a real retro feel. Even the elevator is an experience of its own.

The location is cool, basically right in the city center. The reception staff were nice and helpful, and the rooms were okay, with some having baths, which is nice. Food was a mixed bag, sometimes delicious and sometimes only so-so. The orange and blue interior color combination is a strange choice. From outside, the hotel looks like remnants of communist-era lodging.

The Wi-Fi was the one real problem. There were lots of networks, but none worked well while I was there, and video calls or anything that depends heavily on internet access would be very difficult. The hotel is nice and extremely central in Liberec, the room was very large and clean, and breakfast was great. The elevators seemed a bit strange, though.

The renovation noise made it impossible to sleep in, or even rest around noon after traveling all morning. Although a sign said noise would happen from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., it actually started at 8, and sometimes at 7:30. I complained to reception after four days and got a lousy 10% discount, only for the last two nights, despite the already way-too-high nightly rate. That left me paying full price for the first five days while suffering in silence. Room service also barged in three times without asking or knocking, while showing up to clean only four times during the stay. I only asked for cleaning once. This was the worst vacation I've ever had, thanks to this hotel.
