Wellness Hotel Peras

We had a very good stay at Peras hotel and would gladly recommend it. It’s probably the best choice in the area, and we liked it despite some issues. Whether it was a five-star experience is less clear: with the two problems below, I’d rate it a little lower and leave room for improvement. The main concern was the gluten-free food. My wife has celiac disease, and after our first dinner she began feeling unwell, though it wasn’t serious. When we asked the next morning how her meat/schnitzel had been prepared, a staff member confirmed it was fried in the same oil as ours, which was their usual practice. That isn’t safe gluten-free preparation. The following days went better because the food wasn’t fried, and we politely checked each time that it was really gluten-free. They should take more care with this for future guests who need gluten-free meals. Room service was also disappointing. We asked them not to clean on the first two days, since it wasn’t needed, but on the other days the rooms still weren’t cleaned as we’d expect. Nobody vacuumed any of our rooms during the stay. There were plenty of things we liked. The hotel is a few years old, clean and well maintained inside and out, in a beautiful part of Jeseníky near Karlova Studánka. Our two-bedroom family apartment was nicely equipped, including a small kitchen with everything needed. WiFi coverage was excellent in most areas, and the internet was usually OK, though a bit slow at peak times when everyone was online. The staff were kind, helpful and always smiling. It would be nice if the owner occasionally met guests and asked for feedback. We enjoyed the clean, nice swimming pool after hikes. I especially appreciated that we could rent regular and electric bikes. There are also tennis and squash courts, a small fitness room, sauna and whirlpool facilities, and even a climbing wall, though we didn’t have time to try those. Based on our experience, I’d skip half-board and order from the regular hotel menu instead. The half-board portions weren’t enough for me, and some dishes weren’t kid-friendly, so we had to find other ways to feed the kids. The meals themselves were OK apart from the portion size, but we thought the dishes we tried from the menu were better.

The kind staff even brought our Eddi a bowl of water on the terrace right away, although dogs aren’t allowed. The hotel has a nice view from the window, a good location and free parking for guests. I recommend it for the excellent food and friendly service. The food was prepared with talent and care, and the espresso was marvellous.

A good option for families: the food is good, the place is clean, and the staff are nice. The fitness area could be bigger, but the local squash court and swimming pool make up for that. Recommended.
