Wellness & spa hotel Augustiniánský dum

The spa, cuisine and hospitality make you feel as if you’re in heaven, until it’s time to leave. Even before going in, walking up the road and seeing the beautiful building’s front door gives you a chilling feeling. Inside the mansion, the smell hits you, then your eyes take in all the cozy details, which seem to comfort your whole body. And that’s just the sweet beginning.

This is a quiet spa hotel, well run and focused on rest and treatment rather than showing off luxury. The rooms are clean, sound insulation is good, and the atmosphere stays calm throughout. The spa is professional and well organized, with attentive staff and everything running smoothly. A good fit for guests who value tranquility, structure and proper recovery more than entertainment or buzz.

I never got to experience the hotel or restaurant, but I definitely encountered rude, unwelcoming reception staff. My partner and I were visiting Luhacovice and wanted an aperitif or dinner at the hotel bar or restaurant. The receptionist said the bar was closed, even though people were sitting inside having drinks right then. We asked whether we could have dinner in the restaurant, and she said there were probably lots of reservations made well in advance, so it wasn’t possible. She didn’t check any records or call the restaurant. She just assumed, then, when I questioned her, came up with more excuses and kept ignoring us with a bored expression. I’d heard a lot about the hotel and had hoped for a nice evening during our short visit to the area. We live in Switzerland, but are from Moravia and visit Czech rep at most twice a year. This experience put me off the hotel and its services. It also reminded me of one reason I left this country: annoyed people with no customer service skills, who know nothing about you but seem to think a uniform puts them in a superior position, with the right to decide you’re not welcome. Visited on Saturday, 3 August, around 6 pm.

We always come away feeling great, and we’ve been returning for the past few years. The spa is really good, the food too, and the whole place feels quiet, easygoing and friendly. Our favourite spot in the Czech Republic so far.
