Hotel Pivovar

It’s disappointing to leave a bad review in Polička, but the hotel seems to need much better trained management and staff. Several issues were left unattended, and the manager said, “I don’t have time for everything.” The two daughters working reception didn’t seem to have the knowledge or experience for the job. I can’t recommend it.

The room smelled of stale smoke, and the floor and table both had burn marks. There wasn’t even a no smoking sign. I stayed in one of the “tourist” rooms, and the noise from other rooms carried all night, including some very private activity. In hindsight, I should’ve left as soon as I walked in. The place looked like it might once have been a meth lab. In the morning I saw a bed bug crawling away from me. After checking, I found the whole place seemed infested. I had to wash all my clothes on hot. This was the worst place I’ve stayed in for a long time, even compared with places I’ve visited in Africa. If you stay, expect to spend three days washing everything at 60C and burning what can’t be washed.

We had a room for three, with two single beds and one double. It also had both a shower and a bath. The host was very friendly and chatty ;)

Right in the town center, with plenty of parking and lots of places to walk the dogs. The shower was great, the beer was great, and the staff were quite reserved.
